HIPAA Compliance

HiveCare supports healthcare organizations that handle protected health information (PHI).

HIPAA Business Associate Role

HiveCare acts as a HIPAA Business Associate when processing protected health information (PHI) on behalf of healthcare organizations.

PHI processing is governed by the Business Associate Agreement (BAA) between HiveCare and the organization. If there is a conflict regarding PHI, the BAA controls.

The organization remains responsible for:

  • Having appropriate authorization for data submitted to the platform.
  • Training staff on proper use.
  • Clinical decisions and patient care.
  • Ensuring that its workforce uses HiveCare appropriately.

HiveCare Scope

HiveCare is a communication and care-coordination platform. It is not a medical device, does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and does not make clinical decisions. HiveCare is not an emergency service and does not replace professional clinical judgment.

Technical Safeguards

HiveCare implements technical and administrative safeguards designed to protect information, including:

  • Access controls
  • Organization-level data separation
  • Audit logging
  • Security monitoring
  • Encryption where applicable

About HIPAA Certification

HIPAA does not provide an official certification program.

HIPAA compliance relies on implementing the technical and administrative safeguards required by the regulation.

Organizations may request HiveCare’s technical security summary and signed BAA through support.
